It has long been a source of debate among the Football Italians, with many people having a preference for the French, the English and the Germans, with the latter winning the past four World Cups.

The debate continues however, with some players taking to social media to share their favourite spoon cakes, with several making their own from scratch.

Many players like to get a scoop of spoon cake with ice cream for their dessert, with a few making their cupcakes out of fresh fruit.

The first World Cup spoon cake was made by Germany’s Ludwig Pöttner in 1928, with England’s David Beckham claiming it in 2009.

The French and Germans have also been the favourites to win the past two tournaments, with France having won the 2006 and 2010 World Cups, and Germany winning the 2014 World Cup.

“The French, who were winning at the time, would always bring me the French-made spoon cake and the German would always have the German-made cupcake,” said England’s James Wilson.

“It was just a lot of fun.”

England won their opening match, beating France 4-0, in the World Cup semi-finals, and they took the next two in a row before falling to Spain in the final.

However, the tournament is still to be decided, with Germany and Italy taking the two spots.
